Need Your Help! RE: Companies Who Won't Hire the Unemployed

Dear Readers,

If you support the unemployed in their quest to find work, then I would like to ask for your help.  As many of you are already aware, there are employers out there who refuse to hire the unemployed or those unemployed longer than six months.  This is unacceptable, if we are going to move our country forward to better economic times.

I have compiled a list of Craigslist ads from around the country for companies who are not hiring the unemployed.  Many of them are blind ads, whereby they won't reveal their name.  If you have the background or qualifications they are looking for, I am asking that you contact them to find out who they are.

I do ask that you do not contact them to hassle them, only to find out their company name.  We will shame them later, with your help.

If you wish, I will happily credit you for finding the information.  If you want to remain anonymous, I will respect that wish as well.  You can reply in the comments below, email or give me a call through Google, on the right side of this page.  Below are the ads and contact info.

McKesson in San Francisco has been at this game for over two years! Disgraceful and heartless, especially for those mgt. professionals who are in their late forties and early fifties with families and kids in college. Companies booted them out because of their higher salaries to be replaced by younger and cheaper.

I cannot for the life of me imagine what these people are trying to say with these requirements, other than assuming that if someone is unemployed, they must ipso facto belong to a sub-class of unemployable losers. These are clearly discriminatory hiring practices that need to be investigated and exposed. Good for you staying on this. I think if I were qualified and out-of-work, I would proceed to apply anyway and challenge these folks to invite legal action. The economy is bad enough without making unemployment into a stigma with a permanent penalty. Is heartlessness now to be the new norm?

I retired from a state employment office about 10 years ago. My job was to work with employers looking for employees and people looking for work. Some of the statements in these 'ads' may be considered illegal depending on their state ( & often how they are worded) I refused such job orders. One does not have to eat at a restaurant or go to a tax preparer, etc. that practices this kind of screening. There is also the Dept of Labor & Industries - locally for each area- that would be worthwhile contacting to see if this kind or requirement listing is legal.
The normal requirements must relate to the job- not as a whim of the employer.
As for the one that so badly needed a "proof reader"- maybe someone should send in an application for "a sorely needed position".

Cam

I see one employer put the employment requirement under "Preferred" requirements. That makes it a non-issue legally, but still not necessarily a good employer.

Another Suburban Mom

While I feel this practice is abhorrent and foolish, as who will be more eager to work than someone out of work for awhile, it is not illegal.

Being unemployed is not a 'protected class', which is what is considered in illegal hiring practices. Maybe at best, with a clever attorney you could claim age discrimination since older candidates tend to be unemployed longer.

If I lived near any of these jobs I would be happy to help, but I do not.

your own development regarding insurance contracts began to be able to take shape in ancient Roman times As they screened for you to establish a number of order to help trading methods.
